Remember my lovely beachfront house? Well it’s not on a beach any more, it’s in a field. I logged in yesterday to find that the estate manager had turned all the sand to grass. I actually caught her on the island and spoke to her about it, asked her if it was permanent. She said yes. So, my rent is due in 2 weeks and I’ll not be staying.
I already have a place lined up instead. In fact it’s so good, I may not even wait, and it’s L$800 a month cheaper. The only disadvantage in comparison is that the new place is a single sim with no openspace water like there is in Agrestic. So there’s nowhere to sail anf surf (but given that Havok 4 wrecked all my boat and surfboard scripts anyway, I guess that doesn’t matter).
Seems like living in SL, you’re caught between two evils. On the one hand mainland. Which you have absolute control over your own parcel but none over your neighbours, which means odds are you’ll end up living next door to an ad-farm within two months. On the other hand you can go estate, where you can pick a sim that looks nice, but then you have to hope the estate manager doesn’t change it. Or quit SL. Or run off with all your money. At least renting on an estate, if it all goes belly-up then at worst you lose a couple weeks rent (depending how far ahead you pay). On mainland you could be stuck with a parcel you paid a lot for and be unable to sell it, as was what happened with my plot in Gavello, which I ended up selling to a land-bot for silly-cheap money. I figure if I’m going to lose money I’d rather it was L$1500 than L$15000.
So this will be… what… Bluff House VI.
